Yo! I was thinking about interesting ideas for merchandise to go with my album release. Because the album is going to be called Boadicea, I thought it would be nice to incorporate her along with another load of tough birds into the artwork and merch, and one of the ideas was this:
I designed a set of fake nails from all our heroines. I’ve tried to get a good mix of areas of expertise….
Patti Smith = Music
Coco Chanel = Fashion
Aung San Suu Kyi = Freedom and Human Rights
Rosa Parks = Civil Rights
Benazir Bhutto = First female leader of an Islamic country
Boadicea = Warrior Queen
Oprah = Charity and empowerment
Emmeline Pankhurst = Suffragette Movement
Joan of Arc = Warrior and martyr
And last but not least, Amelia Earhart, the pioneer, explorer and equal rights figure.
Now, I just need to work out what I can make for the boys…..
If you have any idea how long and painstaking it is to make animation, especially stop frame, I implore you to watch this and weep tears of JOY. I am SO excited to know Allison Schulnik is in existence. All of her work is stunning but this is surely a masterpiece!

I wanted to explain the album artwork in answer to some people’s comments. The girl is Maya Aurora, she’s the niece of one of my band members. She got the nosebleed from playing rough with her Nintendo. When it was presented to me in the studio one day I was instantly blown away by the power of the image. When I found out how she’d got the injury, I thought of myself as a little girl. Maya is a tough broad and the whole album is dedicated to that spirit. That’s why it’s called Boadicea. It’s not meant to shock or upset you. It’s meant to make you look. I think it’s absolutely beautiful.

To be totally honest, I am a wee bit overwhelmed by the fact the PledgeMusic target was smashed in 24 hours. You guys have surpassed yourselves once again, you supportive little blighters! I really cant wait to meet you all personally to thank you.
SO….I should get you up to speed. This is by no means ‘the end’. The target of ’100%’ that we hit is the minimum I need to finish making the album, have it mastered by a really brilliant engineer and get copies pressed. If I can reach 200% Ill be able to cover the production of a music video and perhaps even a tour of the UK to promote it. If I could reach 250% I could even choose to have the CDs packaged in gorgeous gatefold wallets and really make them look beautiful, or buy an advert in a music mag.
There isn’t a limit on what I can raise, and every penny will only maximise the trajectory of the album. My fate is, as ever, in your hands. I dont want to pressure those who have already pledged, I just wanted you to know if you haven’t already pre-ordered the album, the campaign is still running and will do so for at least a month or so. Please keep spreading the word!
